Shiny Happy

Construction is DONE!

The kitchen is finished. We have walls, a floor, a sink, dishwasher, you know...normal kitchen things! It's been hellish to not have a kitchen with a kid.

My living room and dining room are both complete with their final coats of yellow paint and the trim is almost done. We've had some other stuff in the works occupying my time (besides the fact that I HATE painting windows.) It looks soooo much better white though!

My fabric also came in! Two days in a row! I now have twelve beautiful yardage of Blue Sketchbook. After I make the curtain panels, I plan to order more for the kitchen and dining room chairs.

I also have to brag about my wonderful new toy. It is the slickest, shiniest looking thing I think I've ever owned. Kinda how when things look very soft you need to rub them on your cheek to get the best indicator of how soft it really is? I felt the need to lick it. Like, is the best indicator for testing smoothness to lick something?! It was a strange impulse I had. Just thought I'd share...Maybe other people who got them for their birthday (ahem, Leslie) will agree? Right? Leslie? LIAR!

My garden is actually coming along now. I got all the plants from Mom transplanted with only a couple, possibly few, casualties. Not too bad considering it took me over a week to get the poor things in the ground after they sat up at her house for a couple weeks. The important ones seem to have made it. Remember how much I said I wanted a lilac bush? Jason and I were walking around the yard last night and saw this! I can't believe I overlooked it last time. Obviously it was before lilacs were blooming and it's in a place that we can't see on a daily basis unless I walk around the corner of the house to see it. I can't wait to go cut some down later today and fill my house with natural lilac scent!

And since you come here to read about Ephraim, and not me, he is doing well-Loves Morning Star Farms sausage and chicken nuggets. Good thing because I can't get the kid to eat a damn thing these days! The other day we caught him stacking Legos with no direction from us. Neither Jason or I had showed him the "proper" way to play with his new toy yet and I walk around the corner and there he is! I had to run and grab my camera before he got too excited seeing me squeal and clap my hands like some crazed mother who's never seen her kid stack Legos before.

mmmmmmm!

seriously! All on his own!

Some recent obsessions include:

He also loves Elmo in Grouchland! Elmo has been a recent obsession and Ephraim gets better at saying it every day.
