Catfish Days 2011

It is really so exciting having young kids and not babies anymore. This year was really the first year the kids have both been able to participate in the town's friendship days and both enjoy it.

Paula was chosen of Wilmington's Volunteer of the Year, so she was the Grand Marshall in the parade. How lucky are Ephraim and Aeris that they got to ride along with her? (and also, how lucky are we that the kids didn't bring home huge bags of candy? we still have candy in the cabinet from the St. Patty's Day parade!)

After the parade, we took a nice stroll back to Grandma's house and chilled with some lemonade before heading to the carnival. Both of the kids had such a great time being their first carnival and all. Aeris got a bit disappointed when we walked up to most of the rides as she was too short to go on them, and had to stand there and watch the man unclip the rope and let Ephraim walk through. She will have that disappointment for a long time, little peanut.

Oh! And I had a great time too! I tried fried Oreos for the first time! YUM! Can't go to the carnival and not have treats :)

After rides, and games and junk food, Mom was pooped and called it a day. I don't think Aeris was disappointed though. Poor thing fell asleep when we were only a block from the carnival!

Lake Benton

We went on our first family road trip this weekend! The kids were great during the drive and we only stopped about three times each way. I'm sure we spent way too much on fast food during the drive, but eh, that's what vacation is for. You know, like getting milkshakes at 9pm and telling the kids its water ;)

We stayed at Jason's aunt's house on Lake Benton. The kids had a blast, Ephraim especially. He loved riding on the jet skis with Jason and Steve...Aeris, not so much. She did enjoy the baby pool and park though.

Ephraim enjoyed the slide and water trampoline! So many fun toys!

Ephraim also went fishing for the first time! It lasted for less than a minute though, so there is no pic of that. Somehow, I don't see Ephraim as the fishing type. He's sorta anti-fisherman

Rodeo

Paula and I took the kids up to the Little Boots Rodeo in Elk Grove, IL Saturday afternoon. It was a nice summer day and the kids had a blast! For some reason, I didn't put on any sunscreen and got sunburned but at least the kids are good! :)

There were a bunch of activities that the kids had to do in order to earn their official Cowboy/Cowgirl certificate...milking cows, horse stick races, horseshoes, etc.

Ephraim loved riding the horse! Aeris was a bit too nervous so she stayed back this time.

Both of the kids really loved the balloon animals. Ephraim chose a lightsaber, of course, and Aeris chose a purple (not pink?!) kitty!
Aeris really loves lemonade! She does not like many sweets so this stuff is right up her alley!
