Trading Ice for Snow

But not like dollars for donuts. what? I don't know either...

Jason and I were planning on taking the kids up to visit my grandparents for some overdue visiting this weekend. Due to the projected weather conditions, we decided to leave on Thursday instead of Friday morning, and good thing! Here in Chicago, we got a nasty ice storm! And I mean nasty! When we got home to survey the damage, there was-still is!- icicles hanging from everywhere! The trees are all frozen and cracking under the weight of the ice. The only thing I regret about leaving is not being able to take some photographs Friday morning. I'm trading a photography session during nap time to bring you this blog post, so maybe later tonight I'll get some for you.

Anyhow, in Wisconsin, we got over a foot of snow! It was exciting for Jason and I to see so much snow! We haven't had a good snow like that here since we were kids.

With all of the snow, we thought it would be a perfect opportunity to take Ephraim out in it to play for the first time. Jason and I snuck out during naptime and left the kiddos home with Grandma to get Ephraim some gear. After buying Cars (obv.) boots and snow pants at Walmart we went to a nice little coffee shop and a baked potato bar restaurant for lunch. What a great concept for a restaurant! Hmm maybe that will be our new plan here... lol I'm KIDDING... Anyhow, we had a nice little date and came home to this.

Later that evening I made some cookies and we went over to my aunt's house to exchange gifts with the kids and play in the snow. She has a nice little hill on the side of her house and Ephraim got to go sledding for the first time! He had a blast!!

Saturday evening we came home, followed closesly by another snowstorm. When we arrived, there was a box from Aunt Marcia for Ephraim to open the next morning. Thanks!! :) Ephraim says, "Kanks Shar-Sha!" nodding on each syllabyl. Maybe I should quit doing that?

ps/Do you see that truck in Ephraim's hand? We thought we lost it when we were trying to leave Friday night! Ephraim loved those trucks so much he took them out in the snow with him! If you look closely, you can see him holding it, and then where it fell. I bet its burried in your yard Lynn!
