A Different Sort of Saturday

Normally, Saturdays are spent indoors. We are all in pajamas covered in formula spit-up and goldfish crackers. Actually, everyday for the past two months feels like a Saturday.

Yesterday was one of those perfectly warm fall days (I would even say it was a bit too warm, but that's just me. I prefer a bit of chill in the air) so we decided it was a good opportunity to take the babies out .

What I really had in mind was a trip to the pumpkin farm that Ephraim and I went to last year. The Apple Blossom Farm in Peoria is just not the same. I wouldn't even get my camera out to take pictures of the "you pick" area because it was a for real YOU PICK. Like...get in the patch and pick your own pumpkin. The "you pick" at Bengston's is more of them picking, putting them all in a nice yard, and letting you pick from them. Me=not country

Ephraim did enjoy a cookie out of the trip!

Later we took him to an outdoor mall and let him run around in the play areas. There were other little boys there who were so excited to see a little toddler. This one kid kept coming up to Ephraim and calling him baby and trying to take care of him by showing him the ropes of the playground equipment. Ephraim just wanted to climb on the rocks....until he found the sandbox. I know kids need to be kids or boys need to be boys or WHATEVER but I hate the dirty, and sandy, and sweaty, and stinky, and according to anyone else, fun, but I get that he isn't going to die in a sandbox so I had to shop on my own for a bit so Ephraim could get all dirtysandysweatystinkyewww. He had a blast! The boys even hugged goodbye when they were done playing together. So cute. I wish Ephraim had other kids to play with around here. I really miss taking him to Gymboree. I hope wherever we move to will have one, especially after finding out they have new art classes!

And finally, we finished off the day with dinner at Chevy's. Mexican restaurants are the perfect place to take two month old babies and tired toddlers! Just about everyone else had kids there and its so loud you could barely hear the last ten minutes of dinner when Ephraim threw a fit. But honestly, you couldn't expect anything more from a sleepy baby. I think he had enough entertainment to last him for at least the next few days...

What a neat thing - that outdoor mall. Can I just say that I love that Curious George backpack?

My 6 yr old son is obessessed with CG. He would have loved that back pack a few years ago.
